realizing I could technically say “yeah my mother wanted a girl so she dressed me like a little girl” to explain my childhood photos and it would technically be correct and win me much more sympathy than just saying I’m trans

“you’re right it IS weird to force children to live as a gender they know they are not”

if someone says the phrase “don’t think of pink elephants,” the hearer immediately imagines pink elephants. but when someone says “imagine dragons,” is the first thing you envision dragons? no. it’s that stupid band. they have reduced the number of imaginary dragons in the world, and it’s a damn shame

Me taking my hypothetical children to pride:

See that man in the dog mask? He’s playing a game of make believe with his friends to have fun, just like we do! See how his tail is wagging?

See that man with a gun? He’s part of a violent institution that serves the ruling elite and upholds white supremacy. Fifty years ago he would have been raiding all these bars and arresting us all. He could shoot you in the face right now and probably not even lose his job. If he tries to talk to you, remember to say, “I won’t speak with you unless I have an attorney present.”

What do tma and tme mean? Ive seen them being thrown around in conversations about trans people, but cant find any definition online for what it means, and post posts that include it are negative/infighting between trans people

genderkoolaid:

“TransMisogyny Affected” and “TransMisogyny Exempt.” They are meant to categorize people based on whether they are impacted by transmisogyny (either at all or most severely depending on whether you point out the flaws in this language who you talk to) or not.

AFAIK it was originally meant to allow for discussion of transmisogyny without using gendered terms. But generally, especially in discussions about trans people, TMA is used to mean “transfems assigned male at birth,” and TME is used to mean “transmascs assigned female at birth.” Many people (including people who would be considered TMA) have critiqued this language for:

  • Creating a new static (uncrossable) binary, which ignores the complexity of many trans* people’s experiences with transmisogyny, especially in the case of intersex people & genderqueers
  • Downplaying the impact of transmisogyny on the lives of people who are not transfems AMAB
  • Focusing on the identity of individuals being affected by oppressive violence, rather than the system of oppression doing the violence
  • Being used to support the theory of trans oppression that says that all “TMA” people are oppressed by all “TME” people, including other trans* people

its really bizarre how after a couple decades of mostly uncensored internet access and raunchy premium cable made it so nobody gives a shit about swearing, we’re now re-entering an era of quaint self-censorship in the name of platform marketability rather than politeness. im sure nobody actually cares. im sure none of the advertising dicks, or boardmembers, or anybody really cares that much personally. they just think it will scare people off somehow. so now grown adults are saying “h-e-double-hockey-sticks” ass bullshit on the same social media websites where they try to get their meat slonked and find a dealer.
